As a South African company, at Backline Retail Interiors, we love to spec other South African brands and designers in our retail and corporate interior designs.

Here are three of our favourite South African lighting designers:

Dokter and MissesDokter and Misses are so on-trend and on-point it’s almost painful. This design studio creates pieces with a simple and stylish, almost scandinavian style. Their pieces are perfect for modern minimal offices and retail boutiques. We love how they work with very very on-trend materials, such as raw concrete and tubular metals.

David KrynauwDavid Krynauw’s designs are nothing short of spectacular. He incorporates his engineering skill and eye for design into his creations. We love how his signature Haywire light can be extended and reconfigured to fit any large or small space. This sort of flexible design is exactly what retail designers want. We also love the attention to detail and skilled carpentry displayed in his work.

WillowlampThis design studio creates the most magnificent ball chain (yes, the same type of stuff used in bath-plug chains!) lighting installations. Their elaborate designs are as at home in grand hotel foyers as they are in industrial-style lofts and restaurants.
