Materials to look out for in retail details right now

The Blackline Interiors design team has identified the following materials as the hottest design elements to use in retail interiors right now:

  1. Solid woods, with natural hues and grains revealed
  2. Smooth and textured stone – especially marble
  3. Sustainable yet pretty and useful cork – used as flooring, sound proofing, wall cladding or just for decorative effect
  4. Heavy black and brassy metals – rather than the golds and coppers of last year
  5. Concrete – polished, raw or stained, used as screed flooring or cast into counters and furniture in it’s own right

The overall look achieved with this combination of materials can be described as natural glamour – a mix of last season’s industrial style and the current return to luxury details. Think opulence achieved through quality materials rather than bling, and your retail interior will win over even the toughest critics.
