MEET THE DESIGNER: BONGANI MAYABA

Bongani Mayaba, Interior Designer With Blackline Retail Interiors

Bongani Mayaba is one of the newest interior designers to join Blackline Interiors Design studio. We’re privileged to welcome this rising star of the South African design world to our team.

Where did you study design?

I Graduated with a Btech in Interior Design from Tshwane University Of Technology in 2016, during which time I completed an internship programme with DHK Thinkspace.

What is your background as a designer?

After graduating I worked as a freelancer, mostly doing 3D renderings and space planning on small residential and commercial projects.

What are some of your favourite interior design projects that you have worked on?

Saseka Ethnic Salon Concept & Granny Goose

What inspires you as a designer?

I get inspired by the world around me and people, those who aren’t scared to go for what they want in life.

Who is your favourite South African designer?

Donald Nxumalo

What are some of your favourite up-coming interior design trends?

I think Patterns are going to make a comeback this year and industrial lighting.

Who is your dream interior design client?

I would like to design a resort one day, I think that would be an interesting project.
